    Pretty in Purple

    Aspen Hill’s edible landscape

    Pretty in Purple
“Pretty in Purple” pepper plant from Aspen Hill Herb Farm

Planting an edible landscape has never been more delicious or spicy! What looks like an ornamental pepper at first glance, doubles as a decorative food addition to any meal. Aspen Hill Herb Farm in South Hampton, NH brings a selection of interesting peppers to the Portsmouth, Exeter and Dover Markets.

    Numex Pepper
Spicy pepper of the Numex variety

Aspen Hill’s Karen Reed tells us that the peppers are a little bit spicier than what we’re used to from a jalapeno. They like a lot of sun, and will produce again next year if brought inside and protected for the winter. The lovely purple color turns yellow and then red as it ripens.

Great for a colorful salad or stir fry!
